The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) provides a wide range of human services designed to promote self-sufficiency, safety and well-being for all Georgians. The department is one of the largest agencies in state government with an annual budget of $1.8 billion and nearly 9,000 employees. DHS is comprised of three Divisions: the Division of Aging Services, the Division of Child Support Services, and the Division of Family and Children Services.

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) is seeking candidates for the position of Business Support Analyst 1. This position is a telework position. Compliance with the State of GA teleworking policy requirements and maintenance of high speed internet access are requirements for persons approved to telework. Persons who are fluent in Spanish (oral and written) are eligible for a bilingual supplement upon receipt of an acceptable score on aDHS administered assessment.

DCSS is the division within DHS that enhances the well-being of children by locating non-custodial parents; establishing paternity and support orders; enforcing and modifying support obligations; and collecting and distributing child support payments. This program promotes parent accountability and self-sufficiency while reducing the public responsibility for providing financial and medical support to children. DCSS also administers several outreach programs to include but not limited to Fatherhood, Prison Re-Entry and Problem Solving Court. All of these outreach initiatives are devoted to increasing non-custodial parental involvement in the child's life.

Job Description

Pay Grade: J

  • Establishes child support obligations and ensures that such obligations are met.
  • Communicates with clients and other constituents via telephone, email, correspondence and direct contact to ensure that support obligations are met.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Core Competencies:

  • Home based technology that is equipped with a Windows based operating system and high speed internet access in order to receive the agency's software applications required for candidates approved to telework
  • Compliance with State of GA teleworking policy requirements
  • Excellent oral, written, analytical, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard software applications typically used in a corporate office environment
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience related to area of assignment.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over year basis.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an approved, accredited college or university and call center experience.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) years of call center experience.
  • One (1) year work experience as a DCSS Agent 1, Agent 2 or Agent 3.
