Class Summary

The Department of Transportation consists of three groups: Intermodal Operations, Capital Program Delivery and Traffic Engineering, Operations and Maintenance. The Department maintains an infrastructure system that includes more than 2,600 miles of road, over 720 signalized intersections, thousands of miles of traffic striping, the Gwinnett County Transit System and one of the three busiest airports in Georgia. TheDepartment performs this mission with 164 approved full-timepositions and a 2019 adoptedoperating budget of $51.3 million in multiple funds.

The Program Delivery Section oversees the Capital Road Building Program for Gwinnett County to include projects funded by the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. Program Delivery receives assistance from private sector contractors/consultants as needed to expedite the design, land acquisition and construction of road and bridge improvement projects. The Preconstruction Division of Program Delivery has an Administrative Associate II vacancy in the Utility Permitting Section.

This position will provide administrative support to not only the Utility Permitting Section, but also the Program Delivery and the Director's Office staff. This support would include documentation of transactions, concerns and potential resolutions related to utility permits. In addition to these responsibilities, this position also would provide support to include documentation and research on road projects, project files, right-of-way acquisitions and standard operating procedures. Documentation will include the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Lastly, this position also provides administrative support by performing basic office duties, such as copying, filing, faxing, typing standard documents, preparing, sorting, and distributing mail and entering data into various department reporting systems.

Preferred candidates will have experience in a public works setting with three years or more of experience in administrative support tasks.

The grade for this position is B21(1).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.;
  • Two years of administrative support or related office experience (three years or more experience preferred);
  • or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
