Performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties for Finance and Environmental Services departments.
Keys Accounts receivable data for Environmental Services Department
- Performs reception functions:
- Greets customers, responds to routine questions and directs to the appropriate person or department
- Answers telephones, directs callers to appropriate person or department and relays messages.
- Distributes forms/documentation as requested
Processes purchase orders
- Set-up new landfill and water & sewer customers
- Uploads and enters monthly landfill billing into appropriate system
- Reconciles and processes landfill billing
- Print and mail landfill billing to customers
- Makes collections calls to late customers to ensure payment is made
- Works closely with Treasurer's office on collection of landfill payments.
- Abates landfill charges when instructed
Prepares and keys Environmental Services accounts payable
Prints and/or mails monthly Airport & Water/Sewer billing
Maintains the board room and conference room calendar
Assist other departmental personnel with various tasks; serves as back-up for Account Payable and Payroll functions.
- Prints & distributes purchase orders
- Liquidates open purchase orders as needed
- Assist procurement department in requisition training and on following the Culpeper County Purchasing Resolution.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Education and experience equivalent to high school diploma; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving general office work, reception work, and data entry.
Must possess satisfactory results of a criminal history background check
Must be able to lift 12-20 pounds. Must be able to operate office and computer equipment; may involve extended periods of time at keyboards or workstation. Must be able to communicate orally, and perceive and discriminate colors or shades of color. Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

HOLIDAY/VACATION/SICK ACCRUALS The County offers 13 paid holidays per year. Vacation and sick accrual depend on the agency, office or department in which an individual is employed.
PAY FOR PERFORMANCE The County currently utilizes a merit pay system to determine employee salary increases. Employees are eligible to receive up to a 6 percent increase on an annual basis depending upon their individual performance.
SHORT TERM DISABILITY The County offers basic income protection throughThe Standard in the event an employee is unable to perform the essential functions of his or her position. Employees are paid 60% of their gross salary up to 76 days after a 14 calendar daywaiting period is met.There is a one-year waiting period before benefits are payablefor all employees covered under the VRSHybrid plan There is no waiting period for employees covered under VRS Plans 1 and 2, and the VRSEnhanced Hazardous Duty plan.
LONG TERM DISABILITY
The County also offers additional income protection that will continue beyond the short term disability period until an employee is able to return to work or reaches retirement age. Employees are paid 50% of their monthly salary. This coverage is provided for a nominal cost to employees covered under VRS Plans 1 and 2 andthe VRS Enhanced Hazardous Duty plan. This coverage is providedat no cost to all employees covered under the VRS Hybrid plan, butbenefits aresubject to a one-year waiting period.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT The County offers a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) that allows employees to set aside up to $2,500 annually, on a pre-tax basis via payroll deductions, to pay for eligible medical, dental or vision expenses not covered by the benefit plans. This program is regulated by the IRS and runsconcurrent with the benefit plan year. Open enrollment is held annually.
DEPENDENT CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The County offers a Dependent Care Assistance Program that allows employees to set aside up to $5,000 annually, on a pre-tax basis via payroll deductions, to pay eligible dependent care expenses. This program is regulated by the IRS and runs concurrent with the benefit plan year. Open enrollment is held annually.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION The County offers a 457 through Nationwide as another alternative to set aside money for retirement. An employee may elect up to a maximum of $18,000 annually in 2015 to be deducted on a pre-tax basis.
WELLNESS PROGRAMS All eligible employees and their dependents are able to receive a flu shot each year. This program is free to employees, and offered at a nominal charge for spouses and dependents 18 and older.
